We started Monday to make the long trek to PEI. Our first stop was Herkimer, New York. The KOA there was voted best campground in North America in 2010. You can dig for diamonds in the mine or brave the rapids on the West Canada Creek. Being the water loving family that we are, we rushed out to buy inflatable tubes and couldn’t wait to tackle the creek. The water was rushing by and the rapids were visible from our campsite. This naturally inspired a safety talk/ lecture from dad… but I don’t think the girls heard a word of it. When they reached the creeks edge, it was a crazy free for all. Kids diving in in all different directions. Followed by simultaneous screams of panic as they were whisked away in their inner tubes. The fear in their voices could be heard miles away. In the past, we have watched movies like Impossible and always joked about who was daddy’s favourite and who he would save first. Well…the girls all know where they rank now and it is undeniable…Tammy is his favourite! Don’t worry, the girls were all rescued successfully from the creek but some were much further down than others.
