Day 29 – The Bund and Yu Gardens

Being the holiday, Kaelyn didn’t have to work and it was sunny so it seemed like the perfect day to visit The Bund and Yu Gardens. Plus Kaelyn wanted to look for some new shorts ๐Ÿ˜‰

Videos at the bottom.

We first zipped to H&M and found some shorts, and headed down via taxi to The Bund. We weren’t sure what to expect, and things were pretty normal in our part of town (ie. not any difference in the number of people or cars). But man was it CRAZY there. The taxi dropped us a fair number of blocks away, likely to avoid driving in it. Many roads were blocked off and it felt like it was a march so many people walking down to the waterfront. But we had a good trek and will come back when it’s not so busy. We found a Starbucks, had a green tea frappichino and went shopping at Forever 21.

We then headed over to Yu Gardens, thinking it was, well, a Garden. It was even busier here. But the buildings were SO amazing. Kaatje is going to be so jealous. I could see deeper in there likely was gardens but the sheer number of people kept Kaelyn and I from doing a quick exploration. HOWEVER, we did manage to eat some corn-dog type shrimp (Kaelyn will have to share this story) and squid-ka-bobs. It was great and we are certainly going back soon.

  1. Does the Desert Vendor also sell drinks – could get a little dry.

    • There was so much to eat/drink there, every other vendor seemed to sell some sort of food.
We learned that it’s typical to eat the entire shrimp other than the tail – head and all. When it’s fried, it’s actually easy to eat and locals do. So maybe next time ๐Ÿ˜‰
