It was exciting as we drove in to see the wall from afar. And to give you an idea how far north of Beijing we had to travel:
We were dropped off very close to the entrance around 12:30PM. The guide explained that we needed to be back down for 2:30 to have the lunch they provide at the local restaurant. There are 2 ways to reach the wall – walk or cable ride. Although the walk would have been fun, given the time restraint we opted for the cable ride. It cost an extra 120RMB ($22.50CAD) each . It also provided a ride back too or optionally the toboggan ride (we weren’t sure what they meant until we started up the cable car). The cable ride wait was about 30 minutes but worth it. We had to split up since only 2 people can ride per unit.
