Today we had to be outside even earlier, 6:30 pickup. I assume we must be the first ones picked up. We had breakfast downstairs again and drove around the different hotels picking up everyone. Our first stop for the day was the Forbidden City. More of that in the next post.
What’s important to note here is that
- It’s National Week (ie think of our Jul 1)
- Beijing is the capital of China
- Many people go to Beijing to see the history and show their respect
So it was busy. And we stood out, specifically Kaatje for being so tall. It didn’t take long for people lining up asking for photos.
It was a little odd seeing parents ‘push’ their kids to get a picture with her.
In the end a few came up and were very polite asking where we were from.

Looks like you guys are getting to see lots of great places. They have a lot of great buildings. I see that kaatje does stand out in a crowd. It’s just like that day you and kaelyn were out and some girl wanted a picture with kaelyn.
Yes exactly. They did want pictures with Kaelyn but she seemed like she didn’t want to. She was happy taking pictures.
